I really, really want a Tesla Model X. I mean, look at that thing. Is that not the sexiest piece-of-awesome you’ve ever seen in your whole damn life?
Gah, I love everything about Teslas. I love how they look. How they feel. But what I love most is what the company stand for: the future.
Financially, I’m far from a Tesla. I currently rock a 2003 Honda Accord. It is not sexy. The paint is faded and chipped. The steering wheel squeaks and the back right window doesn’t work. It’s clocked over 220,000 miles and, oddly, when I’m completely alone at the most random times, it smells like someone farted through the air vents. Most days, that car bums me out.
But all that changed the other day. The universe tapped my shoulder and whispered, “So, I hear you want a Tesla.”
My eyes lit up like Christmas. “Why yes. So…when are you going to give it to me?”
“Hmmm. Well…why should I give you a Tesla, if you don’t appreciate the car you already have?”
And that’s when the universe dropped the mic, y’all.
I need to appreciate what I have right now. I need to treat my rickety ’03 Accord like it’s a Tesla. That means being a grown up about it — keeping it clean, having it serviced — basically, treating it like it’s worth money, despite the fact that it’s worth less than a five year old latte machine I saw at a yard sale the other day.
The future is right now, my friends. I’m going to do my best to enjoy what I have right now, and let faith take care of the rest.
