What more can you ask for? You literally get endless knowledge that’s actively connected to your current knowledge in real life. Wikipedia is literally humanity’s brain…on the internet. It’s like you can suddenly access the collective consciousness of all of humanity. And it’s constantly growing. You think Wikipedia is good now? Just wait a hundred years. That shit is gonna be insane.
Wikipedia is an amazing place to get ideas. It’s become integral to my creative process. When you want to get ideas for something, you type it in and it gives you facts. And facts are the basis for generating ideas of your own. That is so cool.
We take Wikipedia for granted, but it’s the best site on the internet.
The plot and the theme are at war. The plot is designed to force the theme to emerge. That’s why for me, knowing what the story is about is critical. It helps you edit. It helps you make decisions. It is the map.
The plot points themselves don’t really matter — it’s what those events mean to the characters that gives the story it’s weight.
